The Rangers Charity Foundation celebrate its partnership with Unicef

The Rangers Charity Foundation will celebrate its special partnership with Unicef at Rangers next home match against Hearts on Saturday, May 13.

As well as a stunning card display in the Sandy Jardine Stand before the game, videos will be shown on the big screens explaining the joint work of the Foundation and the global children’s charity, including one narrated by Rangers legend Michael Mols.

Eight lucky fans will also get the opportunity to take a penalty on the hallowed Ibrox turf at half-time.

Unicef has been Rangers Charity Foundation’s International Partner since the start of the 2008/09 season and the Foundation has been working to raise funds and awareness of the charity’s work with some of the world’s most vulnerable children ever since.

Fans’ donations have helped pay for one million life-saving vaccinations from a range of deadly but preventable diseases, as well as supporting education projects in India and the refurbishment and equipping of vital heath centres in West Africa.

Most recently, the Foundation donated £25,000 as part of an exciting initiative to protect children in emergencies through the One Goal For Children project.

Launched last year, the project aims to raise money for Unicef UK’s Children’s Emergency Fund, which exists to allow the charity to respond immediately when children are in danger from events such as war, famine and outbreaks of disease.

Before the Hearts match fans will be asked to show their continued support by donating their change via bucket collectors who will be situated inside the concourses on each of the stands.

A video specially created by Unicef for the Rangers Charity Foundation will be shown on the big screens immediately before the match explaining the plight of children who find themselves caught up in crises, what the partnership is doing to help and how supporters can influence that.

Fans in the rear of the Sandy Jardine Stand will then be asked to take part in a card display prior to kick-off creating a visual show of solidarity between Rangers and Unicef which will not only be seen by those within the stadium but also those watching on television around the world.

Fans wishing to take part in the once in a lifetime opportunity must be 12 years of age or older and have a ticket to the match.

Places will be given on a first come first served basis so to secure your place call the Foundation now on 0141 580 8775 or or e-mail rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk.

There’s never been a more challenging time for children around the world. Please help to keep children safe when a disaster strikes by donating to the collectors at the match or online at unicef.uk/onegoalforchildren.
