PSV Foundation closed a successful season of “Score a Book!”

Having reached 1,700 books read, the 2020 “Score a Book!” season at PSV is now officially closed.

The programme connects reading and sports by using professional footballers as role models for schoolchildren. 20 groups from 7 different primary schools in Veldhoven participated in Score a Book! and welcomed PSV players Jeslynn Kuijpers and Nick Viergever as the ambassadors of the programme.

The official kick-off of Score a Book! took place beginning of February with PSV mascot Phoxy and two first-team players visiting a primary school. After this, the participating pupils were challenged to ‘score’, or read, as many books as possible. The library provided interesting books, bookmarks and posters on which the score per group was updated regularly. PSV players encouraged the students in various exciting videos.

Due to COVID-19 and the school’s closure, the planned final event, which was meant to take place inside of PSV’s stadium,  had to be cancelled. As an alternative, Brede School Veldhoven offered a sportive closure with various games that the participating groups could play on their own.

During this event, the kids from De Brembocht School scored the most points, winning a visit from PSV-player Jeslynn Kuijpers and PSV mascot Phoxy. As winners, the pupils could ask all their questions to Jeslynn, take a picture with Phoxy and show their best football tricks.
