Pro League releases the “Proud to be onside” guide during the Football for All campaign

The belgian football from Thursday will be decked out in rainbow colors in every kind of form, from the band worn by the captains, to the corner flags and LED boards. Additonally, to reinforce the Football for All campaign, the Pro League is publishing the manual “Proud to be onside”, offering sports clubs the tools to work on a more LGBTQIA+-friendly atmosphere.

With the annual Football for All campaign, the Pro League and its clubs demonstrate their commitment to diversity, inclusion and respect, standing together against LGBT- and transphobia, just as they do against racism and all other forms of discrimination and inequality. The objective is clear: everyone should be able to be themselves.

In addition to promoting the rainbow colors, the Pro League also focuses strongly on policy through the new guide “Proud to be onside”, which was drawn up together with Pro League’s partner organisation Out For The Win and is available to not only football clubs, but all sports clubs that want to use it.

The document, which can be consulted and downloaded here, was drawn up based on a survey among players, staff and club management. The aim of the guide is to help clubs with concrete tips on common points of interest and set everyone involved on track with interventions that can make every club, at every level, more inclusive.

Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, SK Beveren, Lommel SK and Cercle Brugge are the first pilot clubs to run a pilot programme and have already put some suggestions into practice, while other professional clubs will follow next season.

The Football for All campaign is part of the Come Together action plan, in which the Pro League, the Royal Belgian Football Association, ACFF and Voetbal Vlaanderen join forces against any form of discrimination.
