Pro League relaunches Football for ALL
Last weekend, the Pro League has relaunched the Football for ALL campaign, the rainbow campaign against homophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination and inequality. With the slogan ‘Football for All’, both the Pro League, its clubs and the clubs from amateur football make a stand for respect, diversity, and tolerance in and around our fields. Because football is for everyone.
For the occasion, Belgian clubs wore the rainbow colors. Captains from both the Jupiler Pro League and the Proximus League wore rainbow armbands. Not only the players but also the stadiums changed their colors for the campaign, as the corner flags in both professional
competitions were replaced by rainbow ones.
The Football for ALL campaign, which will carry on for the whole month of March within Royal Belgian Football Association and among amateur football clubs, is the communicative part of the action plan against negative chants from the Pro League. The rainbow colors traditionally represent the LGBT + community, but the Belgian football wants this campaign to raise awareness not only against homophobia, but also against racism and other forms of discrimination. Football is for everyone, both on the pitch and in the stands.
Portraits of soccer players, football fathers,
Other than the players on the field, the campaign has 4 additional testimonial faces. In four videos, Faris Haroun (Antwerp FC), Kassandra Missipo (KAA Gent Ladies and Red Flames), Thierry Witsel (former amateur footballer and father of Axel) and Matthias De Roover (amateur footballer at FC Eksaarde and Mr. Gay Belgium) talk about their love for football, but also about dealing with speaking choirs or chants and what message they want to give to football fans and young players.
