Postcode Community Trust funds ‘Hibees are Buzzin’ Project
The Hibernian Community Foundation has received funding from the Postcode Community Trust, a charity that supports good causes in order to make a difference in their respective communities for the benefit of people and planet – in this case, focusing on the importance of bees to the environment.
The ‘Hibees are Buzzin’ initiative brings into focus the significance of beehives to the local biodiversity, helping 300+ school children to learn about arguably the most important insect in the food chain.
The six-week primary school project will see different topics being covered – ranging from the significance of bees, what’s happening to them, life in the hive, pollination and how we as human beings can help them flourish.
‘We’re really grateful to the Postcode Community Trust for funding this exciting new project. We know how important Bees are to the environment and we are delighted that our own club nicknamed ‘The Hibees’ are able to take forward this exciting initiative.”
Charlie Bennett, CEO of Hibernian Community Foundation
Children who part of the project will also have the opportunity to take part in other engaging activities such as honey tasting and developing a pollinator garden, in the presence of trained beekeepers.
