“Bij Pino”, a project launched by KAA Gent in the Community

In the Nieuw Gent neighbourhood, near the Ghelamco Arena, KAA Gent Football in the community manages Bij Pino: an accessible meeting place at the Rerum Novarumplein containing a coffee bar, a workshop and a share store.

As requested by the City of Gent, KAA Gent Football in the community coordinates this project. KAA Gent has already a couple of succesfull projects in the Nieuw Gent-Steenakker neighbourhood, such as the Buffalo League, the Buffalo Cup and walking football team HT Gantoise Legends. Soon a dance project will be next: the Buffalo Dance Academy.

‘Bij Pino’ is a perfect opportunity for KAA Gent to broaden its community service in the neighbourhood next to its stadium and to link the uniting force of football with its social commitment. The name of the community house derives from Pino, the stork that has been passing winters in the neighbourhood for the past seven years. And of course, just like our Buffalo, a stork has beautiful feathers.

With this project, KAA Gent Football in the community once again wants to prove that football and the love for blue and white can unite people. ‘Bij Pino’ has to become a place where inhabitants of Nieuw Gent feel at home. A place that can also be used by local organizations.
