Paris Saint-Germain donates to Féminine Foundation

During the lock down occasioned by COVID-19, Paris Saint-Germain, mobilised French international players Kadidiatou Diani and Perle Morroni as spokespersons for their Women’s Foundation. Using their influence, platform and personal social media accounts, they raised awareness on ways to contact the emergency services using the numbers 3919; the  commentonsaime.fr resource website and the App-Elles application.

The commentonsaime.fr website was a vital tool for all genders during the lock down, especially for girls, women, LGBTQ+ individuals and others who were at risk of physical harm as cases of gender violence and other harm markedly increased. Last November, their colleagues Irene Paredes and Arianna Criscione took part in the Nuit des Relais, a race organised under the aegis of the Women’s Foundation that is supported by the commitment and will of club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Since the end of May, the association between Paris Saint-Germain and the Women’s Foundation has gained new impetus and a more ambitious dynamic through a wide-ranging plan to support women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Forced to leave their homes since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, these families have found themselves without resources or a roof over their heads. They have been taken care of by the URSF (Union Régionale Solidarité Femmes), a partner of the Women’s Foundation in its emergency campaign #ToutesSolidaires started as soon as the pandemic hit. The Women’s Foundation and Paris Saint-Germain are both helping them out. 64 women and 84 children in an emergency situation awaiting long-term re-housing solutions have been taken care of in recent weeks thanks to the agreement signed by the two foundations.

Paris Saint-Germain foundation has been involved in initiatives since the pandemic hit France and is particularly sensitive to the distress of children and women exposed to violence at home and in serious cases, sometimes even facing the danger of death. Faced with this intolerable situation, the club continues to respond to the emergency and is fully committed to this fight, along with its teams, partners and employees.

For Sabrina Delannoy, Deputy Director of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation: “Paris Saint-Germain, as a committed and civic-minded player, stands by the most vulnerable. As we know, confinement has dramatically exacerbated intra-family violence, further accentuating the difficulties of the women and children who are its victims. In this context, it was natural for Paris Saint-Germain to become involved with the Women’s Foundation, with which the Club has been working for over a year. Our common ambition in the program we have built together is to enable these families to settle down, rebuild and find long-term solutions.”

Anne-Cécile Mailfert, President of the Women’s Foundation says: “The unprecedented programme we are launching thanks to the support of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation will help female victims of violence and their children. Their situation has tragically worsened in recent weeks. At a time when lock down is easing, grassroots associations are receiving a large number of appeals from women who can finally warn of the dangers they face and their situations. It is essential that we continue to strengthen our support, and this support from the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation makes a major contribution to that.”

Nivea Men, the Club’s official partner, joined the operation to provide material support and comfort to the women and children rescued by the URSF, a partner association of the Women’s Foundation. Nivea Men delivered more than 1,000 hygiene and care products to the families receiving care.

The Paris Saint-Germain Foundation uses its expertise to help underprivileged young people through a specific educational and fun programme for children run by the Women’s Foundation. The Foundations work in education at two sites hosting several dozen families and offer sports activities (football, fitness, mountain biking, archery, etc.) and games, painting, a freestyle football show, various manual activities for the children and their mothers. Some official Paris Saint-Germain merchandise, shoes and other toys have also been distributed to mothers and their children.
