Paris Saint-Germain change the way people look at Autism
The President of the French Republic went to Clamart on April 4 to meet the neurotypical children with autism who form the legendary Eleven team. On the occasion of Olympic and Paralympic Week in schools placed in 2023 under the sign of inclusion, the young beneficiaries of the Legendary Eleven operation carried out since 2022 by the teams of the Paris Saint Germain Endowment Fund, an organization in non-profit, and Au Tableau Productions received the official visit of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron on the grounds in Clamart.
A pillar of the disability program of the Paris Saint-Germain endowment fund, Eleven of Legend aims to promote inclusion and living together by allowing children with autism to participate fully in a sporting activity.
The Legendary Eleven is a made-up team of children with autism and neurotypical children supervised by educators from the Paris Saint-Germain Endowment Fund. Young people aged 9 to 11 benefit from free, unlicensed training every Wednesday. The objective is to allow everyone to take a step towards the other so that everyone can, together, overcome their difficulties to challenge the club’s U9s (under 9s).
Through this program, children cared for by IMEs and the association autism sans frontières 92 can strengthen their social skills to overcome difficulties in communicating and interacting with others. Training also allows children to develop their motor coordination and physical skills and improve their self-confidence.
Sport is a great tool for inclusion. Legendary Eleven has already changed the lives of many neurotypical and autistic children. The resulting documentary also aims to change people’s perceptions.
Based on the values of team spirit, mutual aid and solidarity conveyed by football, this experience aims to improve the daily lives of these children in the school environment and at home, both by pushing them to surpass their social difficulties than by making society aware of their disability.
