PAOK Action: Helping refugees in Moores, Kilkis
PAOK and their charity programme PAOK Action are again helping people who survived the war and were forced to leave their homes together with their families in search of a better life thousands of miles away from their homeland.
On Tuesday, the 7th of March, the PAP, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, visited the refugee center in Moores, Kilkis, where clothes and essentials were distributed to the refugees in need. Representatives of PAOK also presented gifts to adults and children and, of course a lot of smiles! There are not enough photographs to describe the joy of these people who had the opportunity to distract themselves from their daily problems for a little bit and play football under the supervision of the veterans of PAOK Kiriakos Alexandridis, Stefanos Borbokis and Yannis Hadziantonyou.
The project manager of the charity program PAOK Action Anastasios Osipidis said: “The joy and excitement of young children who survived the horrors of the war and are now in the game brings us hope for a future in a more stable environment. The shine in the children’s eyes strengthens the desire of our president to respond to the call of refugees.
“We should not be proud to help, but we must never forget that we are refugees too. No one leaves his homeland unless his motherland is the mouth of a shark; you run to the border only when you see how the whole city is running faster than you.” Varsan Sair, poetess from Kenya.
Last year, PAOK Action organised the same activity for the refugees in the center in Moores, Kilkis. The video below shows the great emotions that the youngsters experienced during the football sessions organised by PAOK Action.
