Panathinaikos FC Scored for a Good Reason!
ATHENS –
Panathinaikos FC and Panathinaikos Athletic Club made this Christmas a celebration for 1500 children in the Greek capital city, Athens. It is an historical duty for Panathinaikos FC to participate in every activity in order to support the most vulnerable fellow citizens and to strengthen the social balance. For the Greek club, any discrimination (racial, religious, etc) is absolutely contrary to our founding principles, to the values of sports and the ethical belief of our fans. In order to make children happy and bring them joy for Christmas, Panathinaikos FC and Panathinaikos Athletic Club organised a collection of gifts and ended it with an all-day event, involving players from the football team, who scored for a good reason.
The collection of gifts for the children of KΙVOTOS TOU KOSMOU (Ark of the World) and the CENTER OF RECEPTION AND SOLIDARITY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ATHENS was successfully completed under the slogan “We Score for Children“. The participation of fans and friends of the team was huge, supporting this initiative and giving joy to thousands of kids in the city of Athens. In a period of just 10 days since the campaign started, both organizations have collected more than 1.500 gifts including clothes, shoes and toys for children of several ages. The personnel of Panathinaikos FC and Panathinaikos Athletic Club worked together with volunteers, athletes, friends and fans of the team and made Christmas really “special” for children that needed most.
The Campaign “We Score for Children” was peaked in a great celebration, presented by the journalist Pavlos Tsimas and the leading players of Panathinaikos football team: Carlos Zeca, Marcus Berg, Sebastian Leto, Rodrigo Moledo, Diamantis Chouchoumis, Lucas Villafañes, Panayiotis and Odysseas Vlachodimos, Osmane Coulibaly and Thodoris Miggos. The players of Panathinaikos FC executed drills with high difficulty, competing to each other and playing with children from the two social organizations.
The all-day event started with an open participation of Athenian children and adults competing in sport activities and then mixed athletes and trainers from our Club, including our football, basketball, volleyball, rugby teams, took part in the same drills, giving happiness to the spectators. The initiative was also supported by the emblematic Basketball leader of Panathinaikos BC, Dimitris Diamantidis, who participated in basketball drills, in order to score for good reason.
