OV School: the Orange Vélodrome welcomes young people from Marseille for a learning holiday
French EFDN member the OM Fondation together with their partners Orange and Synergie Family are kicking off their project OV School season 2, which will run until 6 August. For the second year running, they are making it possible for those kids who don’t go on holiday to enjoy the summer, to have fun, to grow, to learn, and to dream in one of Marseille’s legendary venues, the Orange Vélodrome.
Each week, 24 children from Marseille will take possession of the Orange Vélodrome to enjoy unique ‘edutainment’ experiences led by professionals in educational innovation and passionate animators and teachers.
Open to children in age 8 to 14, the OV School allows participants to learn by playing and to discover their talents. The week is punctuated by different workshops such as “Digital Magicians” (Digital Escape Game), “Super Coders” (coding workshop), or “Time Travellers” to learn history while having fun. Children will also have the opportunity to do theatre, discover robotics with the start-up Crocos Go Digital, take part in E-sport workshops with the Marseille based club MCES or do maths thanks to holographic content developed by Kidaia.
The days during these weeks are also marked by new meetings, training sessions on the OM Campus, and the discovery of the stadium’s professions with a new and private visit to the Orange Vélodrome.
Through the enthusiasm, it arouses and the rich imagination it conveys, OM has a role to play in the various learning experiences of its young supporters. In close collaboration with the Aix-Marseille Education Authority and associations working in the field of education, the OM Foundation is developing initiatives to encourage children and teenagers in their schooling, particularly those who appear to be academically and/or socially fragile.
