Our Thoughts Are With Turkey and Syria
As EFDN, we express our sincere condolences to the families and close ones of those who lost their lives in the devastating earthquakes affecting Türkiye and Syria and wish a full recovery to the injured.
Early on Monday morning, while most people were sleeping, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey, devastating parts of the country and neighbouring Syria. It was followed by a series of powerful aftershocks and then a second earthquake later that day, which hit the Elbistan district around 130 kilometres north of Gaziantep.
As most of our members giving their support to all victims and persons affected by the earthquake, we urge you to support as well with a donation to the humanitarian organizations whose teams are currently operating in the affected area.
Benfica’s tribute to the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Türkiye
The SL Benfica professional football team paid tribute to the victims of the recent earthquakes of tragic proportions that occurred in Syria and Türkiye on Monday, February 6. During the training session, players and coaching staff, in the centre of the training pitch at Benfica Campus, observed a minute’s silence in memory of all those who suffered and were affected by the natural disaster.
FC Twente and its players, collected clothes and other materials and sent two trucks to Turkey.
FC Twente has historically strong a strong connection with the Turkish community in its region. In 2021, they got nominated for the More than Football Award 2021, with the project ‘Turkse Tukkers aan zet’. Within just a few days after the devastating earthquake, FC Twente and its players immediately start collecting crucial clothing and materials which will be needed in Turkey
Southampton FC donates to British Red Cross to support efforts in Turkey and Syria
Following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, Southampton Football Club has donated £10,000 to the British Red Cross to support the charity’s emergency appeal.
FC Barcelona in support of the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria
FC Barcelona and its Foundation wish to offer their support and hope to all of the people that have been affected by the terrible natural disaster that has caused the death of thousands of people and left so many more in such a precarious situation in a large part of Turkey and Syria. It is supporting the victims through the humanitarian organisations that regularly work with the Foundation and which are currently operating on the ground.
KRC Genk encourages people to show their support towards the victim of the earthquakes happened in Turkey and Syria
The Turkish and Syrian communities are touched in their hearts. Family, friends, acquaintances, everyone is affected by this disaster. KRC Genk stands shoulder to shoulder with the victims and their loved ones. Therefore, on behalf of KRC Genk community, a warm appeal to support the aid organizations.
