Open Letter to the Dutch National teams
In order to announce their support to the Dutch National team at the EURO 2020, Olympic Games and the European Championship Futsal, the Dutch Football Association (KNVB), together with many Dutch professional football clubs, organisations, and VIPs, assembled in a foundation called “Ons Voetbal is van Iedereen” (Our football belongs to everyone), published an open letter to « Ons Oranje », the name by which the team is popularly known.
The open letter is not just to wish the National Team success on the pitch at the European football championships which will kick off soon but also it celebrates the diversity that Ons Oranje reflects. For generations, the Dutch National team has demonstrated that it does not matter where you are from, the colour of your skin, or what your culture, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs are. Football unites and brings people together on every level, on and off the pitch.
The European Football for Development Network (EFDN) delivers ‘Show Racism the Red Card Europe’ and collaborates closely with signatory Stichting Geef Racisme de Rode Kaart, congratulates the Dutch Football Association and its many partners on this important message that we fully support.
