Olympique Lyonnais’ commitment to to the prevention of sexual violence
Since May 2022, Olympique Lyonnais has deployed a program to raise awareness and prevent the risks of sexual violence in the sporting world, in collaboration with the association Colosse aux pieds d’argile.
This association founded in 2013 by Sébastien Boueilh, a former rugby player himself a victim when he was a teenager, intervened with young people from the OL Academy and educators and supervisors (administrative staff and volunteers) to discuss these issues.
In total, by next November, nearly 500 people – including all the supervisory staff and 300 young boys and girls from the OL Academy – will have benefited from these awareness and training sessions.
The main objective of the program is to free the voice of the victims and train the supervisors in order to provide them with solutions to deal with the problems of sexual violence.
Thus, educational videos on consent, advice on how to guard against the risk of exposure to sexual predators, or even recommendations on the use of social networks are offered to young participants.
This first phase of intervention also allowed the implementation of a Charter of good conduct recalling the essential rules of life within the Academy and the prohibition of all forms of harassment and hazing, which must be systematically approved and then applied by all the supervisors working in the OL Academy.
This charter is now displayed on the premises of the OL Academy, along with the victim assistance numbers and the contact details of the association Colosse aux pieds d’argile.
