Olympique de Marseille awarded with the Philippe Séguin Trophy
As a recognition for their social initiatives, Fondaction du Football awarded Olympique de Marseille and its foundation with the Philippe Séguin Trophy 2020.
EFDN’s members receive regularly awards for their engagement in social projects. This time was it the turn of Olympique de Marseille, which received the Philippe Séguin Trophy 2020 in the “Professional Club” category.
Created twelve years ago, the Fondaction du Football is an endowment fund dedicated to social responsibility actions. Since 2008, the Fondaction du Football awarded more than 200 actions identifying, supporting, and promoting citizen initiatives implemented by amateur and professional football clubs and players.
Two Om Fondation initiatives caught the Fondaction’s attention: OM Volontariat, which allows each employee to get involved in the cause of his or her choice, and the creation of FC Castellane. Especially the latter, was relaunched a few months ago to help all young people of the Castellane neighbourhood through sports and education.
“We support and enhance the value of community initiatives implemented by amateur and professional clubs and also by players. Over the past 12 years, the Philippe Séguin Trophies have identified 3,200 good practices, i.e. more than 200 clubs rewarded for a total amount of 717,000 euros,” said Patrick Braouezec, current President of the Fondaction.
