Olympique de Marseille awarded by UEFA
UEFA has awarded Olympique de Marseille the 2023 Grassroots Awards for its FC La Castellane project.
Supported by OM Fondation since its creation in 2019, the FC La Castellane project has received the UEFA Grassroots Awards 2023 from the European institute.
Launched in September 2019 at the initiative of OM, FC La Castellane was created in a historicical collaboration between OM Fondation and the local social centre with the aim of using the values of football to support the young people of the city. Sports, health, education, training and cultural awareness are at the heart of this project.
After four years of existence, FC La Castellane is a real success story that goes beyond the boundaries of the neighbourhood and the city. The club has nearly 200 players in 19 teams, including a women’s U15 team created in September 2022.
Supported since the beginning by the District of Provence, the Mediterranean Football League and Puma, FC La Castellane has been awarded the “Impact 2024” label for the second consecutive year and has also won this season’s call for projects “Utile et Solidaire avec les jeunes” from CEPAC.
