OL Fondation Rewarded For Its Child Protection Work
Olympique Lyonnais Fondation has been honoured with an award at the 15th edition of the Trophées Philippe Seguin organised by the Fondaction du Football. The award honours social, solidarity, civic, inclusive, responsible and environmental initiatives implemented by French amateur and professional football clubs.
The club was one of the 16 winners of the 2023 award for its programme rolled out in collaboration with Colosse aux pieds d’argile, a leading association working to prevent the risk of sexual violence in sports. This association, founded in 2013 by Sébastien Boueilh, a former rugby player who was himself a victim when he was a teenager, spoke to the Academy’s young people and the educators and supervisors (administrative staff and volunteers) about these issues. Nearly 500 young people and staff from the OL Academy took part in 27 workshops to learn about the risks of abuse and violence in sports.
The 15th edition saw a further increase in the number of entries (340 in total, including amateur and professional clubs), with 16 amateur clubs and one professional club receiving awards.
”The Rhone club owes its trophy to its action in favor of child protection, in particular through a program of awareness and prevention of the risks of sexual violence in the sporting environment. It is due to be deployed this season in the ten or so of its partner amateur clubs.”
