Northampton Town F.C. joins EFDN

We are happy to confirm that Northampton Town Football Club and its charity – the Northampton Town FC Community Trust – have officially become a member of the European Football for Development Network.

Northampton Town Football Club is a professional football club based in the town of Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. Founded in 1897, the club currently plays in League One. Games are held at their home stadium – Sixfields Stadium.

Northampton Town Football Club Community Trust

Northampton Town Football Club Community Trust was formed in 1994 and became a Charitable Trust in 2001. Its mission is to use the power of sport to create opportunities and improve peoples’ lives.

The Community Trust is passionate about making a positive difference to the health and life chances of people within Northamptonshire so that everyone regardless of age, gender or ethnicity has a better chance of achieving their potential.

Northampton Town FC Community Trust therefore aligns itself with the aims and objectives of local, regional and national government; its agencies and the third and community sector where appropriate and of mutual benefit.

As a result Northampton Town FC Community Trust is proud to be delivering on behalf of some major projects including:

  • PL Girls Programme with the FA and the Premier League
  • PL Primary Stars Schools Programme with the Premier League
  • Three Clubs Programme (Coaching & Coding) with Northampton Borough Council, Saints Rugby, Northants CCC and Barclays
  • Mental Health Treatment and Recovery Programme with St Andrews Healthcare

Northampton Town FC Community Trust works in close partnership with Northampton Town Football Club. The charity understands the unique power the professional club brand can have in engaging communities and is keen to use this as a driving force for good.

Aims and objectives:

  • To develop healthier and safer communities
  • To improve physical health and mental well-being
  • To ensure people have access to inclusive activities
  • To bring communities together promoting sport for all
  • To raise the aspirations of people we work with
  • To promote Northampton Town Football Club in the local community and build an affinity to the club

Currently Northampton Town FC Community Trust’s work covers four areas of delivery:

Health: Using the power and brand of the professional football club to engage with patients in a non-clinical setting, this work supports a wide range of physical and mental health issues throughout a persons lifespan including: childhood and adult obesity, alcohol & drug misuse, mental health, social isolation, managing long term conditions and active ageing.

Social Inclusion & Disability: This work covers a wide range of physical and mental disability including: working with sight impairment, autism and learning difficulties, Downs Syndrome and much more. The trust also runs a structured disability player development and talent identification programme and runs the Northampton Town Multi-Disabled Football Club.

Women’s & Girls’ Football: Northampton Town FC Community Trust organises a range of female centred programmes including delivery of the PL Girls programme, skills development centre and has seven teams ranging from under 8’s to the Northampton Town Senior Ladies team.

Schools & Education: Working with over 25 schools across the county, the trusts provide a range of curriculum and non-curriculum classes and clubs to support children’s learning both inside and outside of the classroom.

Each year we are proud to work with thousands of young people and adults – and we know that by you being part of the team you will be supporting us to make a positive impact on peoples lives across Northamptonshire.

The European Football for Development Network is looking forward to a successful cooperation with Northampton Town Football Club and the Northampton Town FC Community Trust in the future.
