New solar power from the stadium roof in Deutsche Bank Park

The municipal owner of the stadium, Sportpark Stadion Frankfurt am Main Gesellschaft für Projektentwicklungen GmbH (SSF), Mainova AG and Eintracht Frankfurt Stadion GmbH have jointly decided to use electricity from solar energy via a photovoltaic system on the stadium roof in the future.

The work is scheduled to begin after the European Football Championship. In total, 1,288 modules will generate around 510,000 kilowatt hours of green electricity per year.

With this project, Eintracht Frankfurt is strengthening its own ambitions to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve its set sustainability goals, reducing the stadium’s CO2 emissions by 221 tons every year.

“We want to improve in all areas of our ESG strategy. We are all pleased to be able to take this step, installing a modern photovoltaic system on the stadium roof together with the SSF and our long-standing partner Mainova”

Julien Zamberk, Managing Director of Eintracht Frankfurt Stadion GmbH

In recent years, intelligent solutions at Deutsche Bank Park and at Eintracht Frankfurt, in collaboration with Mainova, have helped to improve the carbon footprint, including, among others, another photovoltaic system on the roof of the parking garage of the neighboring ProfiCamp in the Deutsche Bank Park with a peak output of almost 100 kilowatts, which went into operation in 2023.

“Urban areas still offer a lot of potential for the expansion of renewable energies. Thanks to our many years of experience, we find intelligent solutions even for demanding buildings such as Deutsche Bank Park. We are very pleased to support Eintracht in their sustainability strategy with solar power from our own roof. As a stadium and energy partner, we have already successfully implemented several climate protection projects in the past at Deutsche Bank Park and with Eintracht Frankfurt. When building this special green electricity system, we rely on the many years of experience of the photovoltaics specialist Lorenz Energie, in which we have been involved since 2021”
