N.E.C. Nijmegen presents new disability team
NEC Nijmegen presented its own disability team to the public during a press conference at the Goffert Stadium. The para team was established through a collaboration between NEC, Unique Sports and St. Maartens Clinic.
In recent years, the sports offer for people with a disability in the region of Nijmegen has increased. In practice, the participation of specific groups, such as people with a physical disability, is still lower which leads to the fact that NEC will be paying extra attention to this target group in the coming period. Based on this line of thought and the desire to create innovative offers in the region of Nijmegen, the NEC Para team was founded.
Luc te Riele, Manager NEC Maatschappelijk, about the Para team: “This initiative is innovative and proves the power of collaboration. The NEC Para team is an example that everyone can exercise. It’s great that we can offer these people a safe environment where they can exercise. ”
Collaboration
The NEC Para team is an initiative of NEC, Unique Sports and the Sint Maartens clinic. The courses are provided by professional trainers from the Koprol foundation. The parties involved offer a weekly programme that includes a broad range of sports and exercise activities.
Programme
The Para team starts with a module from six to eight weeks focusing on exercise and a more active lifestyle for people with an amputation. This module will start next month. After this module, this more active lifestyle will be promoted during the 2019/2020 season.
