N.E.C. host of EFDN Youth Exchange
During the autumn holidays in the Netherlands the Dutch football club N.E.C. is hosting an EFDN Youth Exchange. This exchange brings young people together that participate in social projects from Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Aberdeen and N.E.C. All these clubs are members of EFDN. The youngsters will take part in a European version of the N.E.C. Cummunity Battle’, the so-called Community Champions. During the exchange the emphasis lies on cultural differences in Europe.
During the exchange the youngsters will participate in various activities. Different neighbourhoods of Nijmegen will be paid a visit and the group will also go to the Airborne war museum. The purpose of the exchange is for the participants to experience as much as possible about cultural differences. The exchange is co funded by the European Union Erasmus + programme.
Joep Goessens, coordinator of NEC Doelbewust, is a happy man. “We are pleased that we can provide the 33 participants an informative and memorable experience. The 27 foreign youngsters and staff members as well as our six young fellows from Nijmegen will undoubtedly learn a lot this week and take these experiences home. Hopefully they will spread the word in their respective communities. A project like this again proves that football can play an important role in society. We also would like to use this opportunity to thank our partners Tandem, Taxi van Dijk and COOP Nijmegen.
