MORE THAN FOOTBALL AWARD NOMINEE – JUVENTUS
EFDN is presenting the candidates for the More than Football Award. From an array of high-quality submissions for the award, Juventus’ ‘Differences Make The Difference’ initiative has been selected for the initial 10 projects longlist.
The goal of the More than Football Award is to honour the best social initiatives in Europe delivered by a European club, league or FA by celebrating the work they do on and off-pitch on local, national and international levels. The winner receives not only recognition for having implemented the most innovative and impactful Community and Social Responsibility programme in European football, but also wins a complete branded Mini-Pitch System modular sports solution which will be developed in partnership between the winning organisation, EFDN and sponsor Musco Lighting.
The shortlist will be announced on the 5th of October. Shortlisted organisations will be invited to present at the 16th EFDN Conference in Breda, The Netherlands (9-10 November). EFDN members will decide on the winner by voting.
DIFFERENCES MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
As another initiative as part of Juventus Goals, the men’s and women’s first team marked the international day against racial discrimination (21 March) with the ‘Differences Make The Difference’ campaign. Juventus Goals represents the embodiment of all the social impact initiatives the Italian club has championed over the past ten years.
The objective of this project initiative is to fight against all forms of prejudice and discrimination with inclusivity, diversity and tolerance as the backbone.
The key to fighting all forms of prejudice and discrimination lays not just with the actions of individual people, but with the power of differences, which – when brought together – result in a strong, more cohesive shared movement, underpinned by inclusivity and tolerance
This campaign sees Juventus players wear customised versions of the shirt numbers, from 0 to 9, in accordance with Lega Serie A regulations to point out statistics linked to racism. Apart from the players donning these shirts, a podcast (Sulla Razza – On Race) & an educational project (Un Calcio Al Razzismo – A Kick to Racism) is also implemented to shed light on the topics of social development and inclusiveness.
