More than Football Award Jury
EFDN is proud to announce that Urs Kluser from our partner UEFA Foundation for Children is among the More than Football Award jury members. Urs will support Eduardo Zamarripa, Soccer Market Manager at Award partner Musco Lighting, Phil Duffy, EFDN Board member and former Executive Director of Everton in the Community, and EFDN CEO Hubert Rovers in selecting 4 projects for the Award shortlist.
Urs Kluser
Urs is a lawyer by profession. Following his law career, he worked in international humanitarian organisations and international development before becoming involved in associations football with positions in FIFA and UEFA. Since May 2018 Urs Kluser serves as General Secretary for the UEFA Foundation for Children.
Eduardo Zamarripa
Eduardo Zamarripa is the Soccer Market Manager at Musco Lighting. Along with helping expand Musco’s global presence as a leader in soccer stadium lighting, Zamarripa oversees the Mini-Pitch System™ initiative. Through this work, the Mini-Pitch Initiative has helped revitalise space and create playing opportunities in communities all over the United States. Zamarripa has been with Musco for eight years in various roles ranging from public relations and marketing analytics to partnership, market and product development. Zamarripa, who’s originally from Monterrey, Mexico, holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Iowa, and Bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and English from Drake University.
Phil Duffy
Phil has spent over 40 years in mainstream education, 25 as a Headteacher/Principal in 4 secondary schools including the Everton Free School. Appointed as Executive Director of Everton in the Community from September 1st 2016, Phil has overseen the opening of the new People`s Hub and is directly involved in developing the Everton in the Community Campus within the Everton “Blue Mile”. Phil is committed to utilising the power of sport to support the community, help change lives and indeed in several cases, save lives.
Hubert Rovers
Hubert is one of the founders of EFDN and is currently its CEO, having worked in the football for development sector since 2007, previously as CEO of the NAC Breda Community Foundation and Project Manager of the Dutch FA’s (KNVB) More than Football Foundation. He has extensive consultancy experience in supporting football clubs and organisations to set-up and implement their CSR policy, M&E protocols, community projects and fundraising activities.
About the Award
The goal of the More than Football Award is to honour the best social initiatives in Europe delivered by a European club, league or FA by celebrating the work they do on and off-pitch on a local, national and international levels. The winner receives not only recognition for having implemented the most innovative and impactful Community and Social Responsibility programme in European football, but also wins a complete branded Mini-Pitch System modular sports solution which will be developed in partnership between the winning organisation, EFDN and sponsor Musco Lighting.
Shortlisted organisations will be invited to present at the 16th EFDN Conference in Breda, The Netherlands (9-10 November). EFDN members will decide on the winner by voting.
