More Than Football Award 2024 Longlist: Foundation 92 – Mental health transformation
The European Football for Development Network (EFDN) is proud to present the Foundation 92 – Mental health transformation project, which has been selected for the longlist of the More Than Football Award 2024.
With the increase of negative Mental Health across primary and secondary aged children, Foundation 92 has worked with partners including the EFLT and Local Authorities on the creation and implementation of Mental Health support programmes that directly engage young people who are struggling most with their mental health.
The charity has worked with local partners to create a new “Mental Health Transformation” programme that use the hook and passion of football to engage with young people in school on a one-to-one basis alongside the delivery of full class workshops in primary and secondary schools across Salford and Greater Manchester. Issues faced by young people that the charity works with range from self-harm, bullying, moving up to secondary school, anti-social behaviour and parental divorce, depression and anxiety to name a few.
Foundation 92 has made this free to access Mental Health Transformation programme accessible to 13 schools across Salford and Greater Manchester which has supported 15 individuals suffering with mental health issues.
