More than 300 participants participated in the “Healthy Week”
300 PIECES OF FRUIT
During the Health Week, plenty of bananas, apples and mandarins were distributed to the participants of the Excelsior Clinics and Excelsior Street League, representing more than 300 pieces of fruit and 300 bottles of water were divided amongst the participants that attended the activities. “Thanks to collaborations with the Plus in De Esch and the Albert Heijn on the Goudsesingel in Crooswijk, we were able to offer this to the participants,” explains Jeroen van Galen.
Importance of healthy food
The fact that the children do not always know the importance of consuming fruits or drinking water is also evident in the activities. “It is still a bit of a taboo. Children do not necessarily think a lot about it at this age already, but I think that promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle to the target group from 6 to 14 years is very important. They know what it is, so that’s nice. Furthermore, the aim is now to make them drink water rather than something else during a football training for example. It is therefore not just that the emphasis is placed on health but we promote health and a healthy lifestyle throughout all our projects. This week is, for instance, a perfect example of how we integrate this into our projects.” concludes Jeroen van Galen.
