Montrose Community Trust review their COVID-19 response
Although their traditional programmes were put on hold due to lockdown, Montrose Community Trust did not stop supporting their local community during this challenging time.
Due to COVID-19, EFDN’s member Montrose Community Trust had to interrupt the delivery of many of their programmes. While this meant that the majority of their work had to be postponed, they used this time to redirect their efforts to the development and delivery of a COVID-19 Community Assist Scheme.
As part of the initiative, MCT cooked and delivered more than 2000 meals to the most vulnerable groups of the Montrose area, as well as offering a transport service for those who needed to leave their home for medical appointments. Moreover, they provided free footballs and educational activity packs to schoolchildren, befriending calls to isolated older adults, and individual & group mental health support sessions.
Now that lockdown restrictions continue to ease, the Trust has moved on to their recovery phase and they are planning the return to normal activities, such as their Summer Soccer programme. Even though they are already looking into the future, MCT wanted to still acknowledge all the people who supported the community during this difficult time. For this reason, they have published a video, showing how the Community Assist Scheme was beneficial to the community.
