Marvin Olawaiye – ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ Webinar
EFDN hosted a “Show Racism the Red Card” webinar on anti-discrimination and anti-racism programmes in football, such as our European awareness-raising campaign and our #DiversityWins educational programme that promotes diversity, respect, and tolerance on and off the pitch.
During the webinar, we saw presentations from professional football clubs from different countries who have participated in our programme such as Pro League Belgium, Club Brugge, Toulouse FC, Inter d’Escaldes, and Nuova Peloro. The EFDN also shared a presentation on how you can use our free resources and become a part of the biggest anti-discrimination campaign in Europe.
Marvin Olawaiye who is the CSR Project Manager at Toulouse FC started off the presentation by giving the viewers an insight into the Foundation’s work. Toulouse FC uses the power of football as a social, educational, and charitable tool to inspire and future generations. Starting in 2001 with organising CSR action and in 2010 with the creation of the TFC Foundation. Currently, the foundation has received more than 200,000 Euros in donations, at least 40 events per season, reaching over 500,000 people so far. At the moment the foundation has won 6 CSR prizes in France. The Foundation’s work focuses on 3 main programmes, which are; Football & Social, Football & Education and lastly, Football & Solidarity.
Marvin also explained next season’s goals with the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ campaign in schools. As a mission, the Foundation would like to use the positive impact of sports in our society. The club would like to reach 1000 children from 20 local primary schools using our #DiversityWins educational material (workbook for pupils and teachers manual). During the lessons, the focus will be laid on the fight against racism and the promotion of gender equality.
