Mandatory CPR Courses for Professional Italian Football players

The Italian Football Federation wants all professional players from the top three leagues to take a compulsory first aid course. The reason for this is the incident with the Dane Christian Eriksen, who suffered cardiac arrest and fell to the ground in the match against Finland. Federal president Gabriele Gravina explicitly referred to Danish captain Simon Kjaer, who immediately brought Eriksen to a stable side position after his fall and thus prevented him from swallowing his tongue.

“What happened there shocked us all,” he said of the collapse of Inter’s 29-year-old midfielder. “I would like to pay tribute to Kjaer. His actions have been crucial, which will hopefully allow us to see Eriksen back on the pitch in the future,” Gravina said.

The Italian European Championship squad should be given the first aid course as soon as possible, during the training camp in Florence, according to the association president.
