LFP awarded in the “Sustainability initiative of the year”
Nominated in the “Sustainability Initiative of the Year” category, the Ligue de Football Professionnel was awarded a Silver Award for the evolution of the Club License for the 2023/2024 season.
Against the backdrop of an energy crisis at the end of 2022, the LFP and professional clubs have played an active role in formulating the Energy Sobriety Plan for Professional Sport of the Ministry of Sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. From October 2022, as part of this plan, the LFP and the professional clubs implemented concrete measures to reduce their energy consumption.
In January 2023, a major communication campaign was launched on the social networks of the clubs and competitions to encourage supporters to prioritize sustainable mobility (public transport, carpooling, active mobility) to get to the stadium. In addition to implementing these initial measures, the LFP has taken steps to incorporate energy efficiency into the operational framework of professional football operates by modifying the Club Licence.
