LFC Foundation’s Inaugural Kip on the Kop Event is a Huge Success

Kip on the Kop raises over £65,000 to support homeless people across the city. In September, Liverpool FC Foundation launched their first Kip on the Kop event at Anfield which saw Reds fans swap their beds for sleeping bags to raise vital funds and awareness for homelessness across the country.

The final total raised from the event was £65,000, which will go towards Liverpool Homeless FC and LFC Foundation’s Global Works programme, which provides sport-based employability sessions and mentoring for young people who have experienced homelessness.

As well as supporting the ongoing Global Works programme, the funds raised will help Liverpool Homeless FC to continue their work which offers support and opportunities to play football to people who are or have experienced homelessness in Liverpool.

John Finnegan, CEO of Liverpool FC Homeless said:

“We were completely overwhelmed when we realised how much had been raised. LHFC depend mainly on small grants and donations from the public. This is by far the biggest amount we have ever received in one donation. The funds will be used to deliver football drop in sessions for both men and women, and will also cover the cost of refreshments.

“People are so generous not only with money but also with their time and those supporters who participated in this fundraiser will help our players on their journey out of homelessness. On behalf of all our members I would like to say a great big thank you for your support.”

Matt Parish, chief executive of LFC Foundation, added:

“We are very pleased with the success of our first Kip on the Kop event and the funds raised will help to make a real difference within the local community. Plans are already underway for next year’s event which we hope will be even better and hope that as many fans as possible will come out and support it once again.”
