LFC Foundation supports Children’s Mental Health Week

The Reds’ official charity, LFC Foundation, is supporting Children’s Mental Health Week 2021.

Now in its seventh year, Children’s Mental Health Week, which takes place from the 1st-7th February, shines a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. The LFC Foundation’s mental health team is sharing top tips virtually for children and families on how best to support their mental health throughout the current lockdown. The video, which can be viewed below also includes useful information and links to specialist support services.

In October, the LFC Foundation launched a new youth mental health programme in local schools with national children’s charity, Action for Children. The On-Target programme aims to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people in secondary schools across the Liverpool City Region and despite the disruption of the ongoing pandemic, On-Target has to date engaged with more than 300 children and young people at six local schools and two community centres.

The promotion of positive mental health is more important than ever, especially amidst the coronavirus pandemic. A YouGov survey of over 2000 parents by Action for Children recently highlighted that a third of parents (36%)* worry that their children are feeling isolated, lonely, anxious, or unable to sleep. The LFC Foundation continues to invest in its mental health provision to expand its offer to reach and support more children, young people and families through its programmes.
