Kick-off European Legends Walking Football Festival
Today, EFDN and Vitesse Betrokken had the pleasure to welcome 21 Walking Football teams from all across Europe at Papendal, Arnhem.
From Monday 18th until Wednesday 20th of September the teams coming from countries ranging from Norway to Cyprus and Portugal to England are taking part in the first ever European Walking Football Festival. The festival is the final crowning event of the European Legends programme that was delivered over a period of 24-months by 13 European Football clubs and coordinated by EFDN.
Next to teams arriving from nearer by as Feyenoord Rotterdam, N.E.C. Nijmegen, NAC Breda, Heracles Almelo and PSV several teams from the UK, Norway and Portugal have been travelling a long way to arrive today at the iconic venue Papendal, home of the Dutch Olympic athletes and Vitesse Arnhem.
The festival provides an exciting event programme, ranging from walking football matches to cultural visits and evening entertainment. Teams are especially to tonight’s opening ceremony, were all teams will have the possibility to give a team presentation and get to know each other.

Next to the festival, the first EFDN Walking Football Conference will take place on Wednesday. A conference that will be attended by delegates from professional and grassroots clubs that have expressed their interest in gaining an understanding in the development and implementation of Walking Football programmes. The conferences follows the goal of broadening the reach of Walking Football and Walking Sports in Europe. EFDN is proud to announce a great line-up of speakers and representatives that will facilitate workshops and discussion rounds.
Another highlight of the three-day event will be the exhibition game on Wednesday afternoon. The Vitesse AllStars will take on a group of European Legends players in an exciting game.
