KAA Gent Foundation extends collaboration with the City of Ghent
KAA Gent, the City of Ghent and OCMW Gent extend their cooperation in the KAA Gent Foundation until 2025. Together they will invest 3.5 million euros in the Club’s community operation over the next five years.
Thanks to their renewed collaboration with the City of Ghent and OCMW Gent, KAA Gent Foundation will keep using football as a tool to achieve social goals. With this agreement, the KAA Gent Foundation is confirmed in its role as a social-innovative enterprise with the assignment to further develop its community programmes.
Under the leadership of professional community coaches, Gentenaars will be encouraged to practice physical activities but also guided to allow them to grow personally and as a group. Already existing football activities, such as the Gantoise Plantrekkers and the Geestige Buffalo, will be permanently extended, and the Walking football programme will be developed into six active walking football centres by 2025. Within Buffalo Street Wise, a framework will be created for the development of square football in Ghent.
KAA Gent Foundation has also confirmed its role as a neighbourhood partner in New Ghent. With dance activities in the Buffalo Dance Academy and omnisports in the Buffalo League, the leisure offer for the most vulnerable children in the neighbourhood is guaranteed. The Clubs’s Wijkhuis Bij Pino programme will, for the duration of the urban renewal project, be reinforced as an accessible meeting place for social inclusion.
The Club and its Foundation also recognize the important role they play in the promotion of youth football in the Genth area. This is why the Elk Talent Telt programme will also be continued. Youth teams will continue to be guided in their sporting and social activities, while KAA Gent will keep its important financial support commitment.
