International Walking Football tournament at NEC
The fourth edition of the Grote Markt Supercup is currently taking place in Nijmegen. NEC and Grote Markt Supercup have joined forces once again to welcome high level Walking Football players.
As usual, Walking Football is the central theme on Friday afternoon. This year the scope of the Grote Markt Supercup is even international. The NEC Oldstars will compete, for example, against the Oldstars of Schalke ’04, Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen, PSV, FC Twente, MVV Maastricht, SV Orion and Juliana ’31 en Estria.
For the NEC Oldstars is this tournament the last of the season. Afterwards they will not only enjoy a well-deserved summer break, but also say goodbye to NEC. From the new season they will be active as the rksv Brakkenstein Oldstars. NEC will create in September a new Oldstars group, which will be trained on a weekly basis at Sportcomplex De Eendracht. The NEC Oldstars is a project of NEC Maatschappelijk and is open to every 55-year-old man who wants to kick the ball (again). More information and registration are available here.
The Grote Markt Supercup is a multi-day football party, organised by indoor football club Madereros CF, in the middle of the Grote Markt in the center of Nijmegen. In addition to the Walking Football tournament on Friday, NEC Oldstars will compete against various opponents in the company tournament on Saturday evening.
