Iftar took place at the KAA Gent stadium
An Iftar took place at the KAA Gent football stadium in a spirit of friendship and solidarity. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.
First Iftar in a Belgian football stadium
For the Muslim community, Ramadan is a period of reflection, abstinence, encounter and social engagement. During this period, the fast is broken after sunset, an Iftar is organised for this occasion, where people gather in family or association groups.
For the first time, an Iftar took place in a football stadium of a Belgian professional football club. And not coincidentally, it was KAA Gent’s stadium. The KAA Gent Foundation uses the connecting power of KAA Gent to help build our society, to connect and strengthen people. In doing so, the Ghelamco Arena also serves as a lever for the common good, as an open house where non-profit and socio-cultural initiatives are also welcome.
Tarik Tissoudali
Tonight, attendees received information on the workings of the organising associations, listened to stand-up comedy, slam poetry and a testimonial on Karama Solidarity’s work in the earthquake zone. An auction was also organised, which included two signed jerseys of Tarik Tissoudali, who attended, going under the hammer.
KAA Gent thanks VOEM, Averroes and Karama Solidarity for the good cooperation. With the connecting force of KAA Gent, the Belgian club continues to build its society.
