IF Elfsborg brings Christmas presents to children and staff at the hospital
IF Elfsborg traditionally visited the play therapy at Södra Älvsborgs hospital to hand out Christmas presents to all children. Every year, they visit the children and sometimes take them on the player bus to the Borås Arena where they get to watch an Allsvenskan football league match with their idols.
This year, the club could not meet the children because of the pandemic so they took the player bus with the squad to the hospital parking lot where they met with staff to hand over Christmas presents. “It is always an appreciated visit for children and staff when Elfsborgs players come and visit us. It is a nice collaboration we have with Elfsborg”, said Anna Eklund, play therapist at the hospital.
Sweets and Christmas presents were offered according to the children’s wish lists, as well as another surprise following an initiative by the player squad. “We felt that in a year like this we wanted to do something extra for the children at the play therapy. Unfortunately, it was impossible for us to come in and meet the children in view of the pandemic, so therefore we decided to donate a sum of money that can hopefully give them a little extra joy as they can buy a few more toys, coffee or go on excursions in the future. We wanted to show that they are in our thoughts and the hope is that we will soon see each other at Borås Arena again”, says Samuel Holmén.
“This is an activity that is close to the hearts of all of us in the club. I get proud when I see the commitment among the employees when we planned and then carried out the visit in a united spirit” said Vedad Aganovic, CSR manager at IF Elfsborg.
During the hospital visit, the player squad also handed over coffee to 300 employees at SÄS. Normally, the club usually offers coffee to all members during the member meetings, but this year SÄS care staff were prioritised – as an appreciation for all the work they already do in usual cases and in particular during these times.
