Heart of Midlothian FC offers free online educational programme

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all British children and young people are currently studying at home. To help their young supporters while they are at home, Heart of Midlothian FC has launched a free online educational programme.

Heart of Midlothian FC has always been on the student’s side, offering activities such as the popular Digital Education clubs. Now that all initiatives running at the stadium are suspended and schools are close due COVID-19, the Club has decided to keep showing their support to their young fans.

To help schoolchildren and young people, but also the parents that are currently in charge of homeschooling, Heart of Midlothian FC has launched a free online educational programme.

The online learning platform, which will be available through Google Classroom, will support young people aged from 8 to 18 years old to allow them keep developing their digital skills while at home.

Under online mentors’ guidance, participants will learn how to design apps, build websites and make games. The platform will also include activities that do not require any devices to complete. Additionally, the Club will run drop-in class and a series of live-streams to further support the students.

Special attention will also be paid to young people who are completing school, applying for jobs and further education places, giving them useful links and resources.

“The club is delighted to launch a new set of online digital learning resources to keep young people occupied in a really constructive way.  Technology is playing a significant role during lockdown; keeping businesses afloat, supporting communication between separated generations of families and providing critical information,”said Ann  Park, Hearts’ Director of Community & Partnerships “Our new online clubs provide a fun way for young people to develop what are undoubtedly vital skills for the future.”
