Happy faces during the Vitesse G-Trophy Tournament
After three years, a wonderful tradition returned to the training accommodation of Dutch EFDN member Vitesse member this Wednesday afternoon: the Vitesse G Trophy tournament! Teams consisting of adults with a mental disability competed against each other on the football pitch.
The Vitesse G-Trophy has been organised since 1996, but had been on hold for the past few years. Edward Sturing, ambassador of Vitesse Betrokken, is delighted that the social event is back on the Arnhem fields: “The Vitesse G-Trophy is part of Vitesse. I know it from the time when I was a player and always looked forward to it. It’s great that the event is back and that we can give the participants a fantastic day.”
On the artificial turf of the training facility at Papendal, the sixteen teams, divided into a morning and afternoon programme, competed against each other. In contrast to previous editions, there were no Vitesse first team players present due to the Covid-19 restrictions. However, the participating teams received plenty of support from Vitesse youth trainers and staff. The day ended with a Birds of Prey show by De Valk. It was an unforgettable day for all participants.
