Hampden awaits for Rangers Charity Foundation’s Football Fans in Training
A group of Rangers fans who are involved in our Football Fans in Training (FFIT) programme are to take part in the half-time 10 second penalty challenge at Hampden on Sunday.
The six man team is made up of graduates and current participants of our health and fitness programme which is run every week at Ibrox under the expert guidance of Rangers coaches.
Each of them have been practicing their penalties and are looking forward to their opportunity to compete against a side from the Motherwell FFIT programme at the interval of the Betfred Cup semi-final.
Foundation Community Coach John Joyce who has been taking the FFIT programme at Ibrox said: “The guys have all done incredibly well on the course and I hope they enjoy their experience at Hampden on Sunday. There will be over 35,000 Rangers fans in the Stadium so I am sure they will get a big cheer.
“Every time we run the FFIT course the results in terms of weight loss are outstanding but the real success for me is the number of men and women who tell us they leave feeling good about themselves and that the programme has changed their lives.”
The Rangers Charity Foundation has been running Football Fans in Training courses since 2014.
Both men and women are eligible to take part if they meet the criteria of having a BMI of 27+, a belly of 100cm+ or a trouser waist size of 37 inches or more.
The 12 week programme includes an initial health check on the first session, with subsequent sessions being split between classroom health education and physical activity sessions all conducted at Ibrox.
The current Football Fans in Training courses are all underway but if you are interested in signing up for a future course email your details to rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk.
The Scottish Government is supporting Football Fans in Training via the SPFL Trust.
