Greek Disabled Fans Survey and Research Project Launched

CAFE (Centre for Access to Football in Europe) believes that live sport provides experiences that can have a life-changing impact, and everyone should have equal access to them. Their vision is a world where disabled people are a key part of the global sporting landscape, as fans, employees, volunteers and leaders, so that everyone has equal opportunities to contribute in an accessible, inclusive and welcoming environment.

Working in collaboration with Noriaki Kano Laboratories (NK Labs) and Laboratory of Adapted Physical Activity (APALab), CAFE is inviting disabled people from across the whole of Greece to participate in this research project. NK Labs is an NGO working across Greece to improve inclusion into sport for disabled people as participants and spectators. APALab, based at the University of Athens, specialise in promoting social inclusion of disabled people into the wider Greek society.

They are particularly keen to hear from match-going disabled fans to further understand their matchday experiences at stadiums throughout the country. Cafe also encourage disabled people who wish to become match-going supporters to share their stories and experiences, around the existing barriers which prevent them from being able to attend live matches. CAFE welcomes responses from differently disabled people from across Greece, which will help us in working towards a game that is accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to all. We would also be keen to hear from non-disabled fans, on their understanding of disabled fans experiences when attending matches at their clubs.

The Greek Disabled Fans Survey consists of six sections and should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. An alternative Word document version of the survey is also available to download.

If you have any questions or need support in completing the survey, please email CAFE’s Fan Liaison, Access and Administration Officer, Amy Wilson, at amy@cafefootball.eu, or contact Michail Lolidis from NK Labs by emailing mlolidis@nklabs.gr, or calling (+ 30) 6936 844-214. The survey will be open and available for completion until 18:00 CET on Monday 1 February 2021. A detailed report on the findings will be published later in the year.

CAFE, NK Labs and APALab would like to thank you in advance for sharing your experiences and taking part in our Disabled Fans Survey. For more information about CAFE and their works, please visit www.cafefootball.eu.
