Go Ahead Eagles, Heracles Almelo, FC Twente and PEC Zwolle will Cooperate on Social Issues

Together for Greater Social Impact

In Overijssel, Netherlands, there are no fewer than four professional football organisations. EFDN members, Go Ahead Eagles, Heracles Almelo, FC Twente will be collaborating with PEC Zwolle and Sportnetwork Overijssel in dedicating themselves to social issues. The four clubs not only play football, together with support from the province of Overijssel, they will jointly commit to a number of relevant themes over the next two years.

The cooperation aims to get people to move more, become aware of a healthy lifestyle and address social issues. Specifically, three themes have been chosen on which to work: ‘Everyone welcome in sport’, ‘Skilled in exercise from an early age’ and ‘Reading skills’. The themes are in line with the personal ambitions of the clubs and the province. Moreover, these are also the topics that play a role on a local level in municipalities.

Harnessing the Power of Football

Football clubs are an important part of society and are in a unique position to create connections; football binds and connects. Via the professional clubs, exercise can be made more accessible to all target groups. From the vigour, energy and charisma of top sports clubs and professional footballers, the social departments can be used in an inspiring way and in an effective (regional) approach to social issues.

Working Together on Concrete Issues

The football clubs will cooperate concretely in tackling social issues. The cooperation includes three lines of action:

  • Learning from each other
  • A joint activity agenda
  • Strengthening the local and regional network

Connecting their networks and actively working together, creates an impactful Overijssel-wide network.
