Gibshill CC visit Greener Morton Project

On Wednesday 9th March 2016, the Eco Committee at Gibshill CC joined the Greener Morton team at Cappielow Park to find out more about their Kit & Boot Recycling Room as part of the Climate Challenge Fund, managed by Keep Scotland Beautiful on behalf of the Scottish Government.

Staff and children were given a tour of Cappielow by Kit & Boot Recycling Officer Stuart Brown as he explained how the Recycling room worked and in addition that the team had taken the facility out to Community Centers and Nursery Schools in the community of Inverclyde to encourage more people to recycle old kit and boots instead of throwing to landfill.

The children got the chance to try on the kit worn by the first team and learn some Morton FC facts from days gone by.

Project Manager, Karen Welsh said “It’s great that as part of this project we are able to invite Eco Committee’s to join us at Cappielow.  Spreading the great work that the Greener Morton Project has delivered only adds to the positive changes that everyone can make to Climate Change.  It’s all about making small changes that will help our children and children’s children have a better future.

Thanks to the children for joining us yesterday and we hope to see them at our FREE Eco Fun Day this Sunday, 13th March at Cappielow from 12 – 2pm.  Join us on Sunday for what is going to be an amazing event.
