Fundacja Legii Childrens Day a great success

Last week saw Legia Warsaw and Fundacja Legii host thousands of participants taking part in Children’s Day at their stadium L3 in Święto Lazienkowska. The day included a variety of attractions and activities ensuring that there was something for everyone and not of the guests, regardless of age could complain of boredom.

A family picnic organised by Legia Warsaw, Fundacja Legii and the Legia Soccer Schools Foundation kicked things off on Saturday at 8.30am with the first Legia Soccer Schools training starting on the first team stadium pitch at the same time and continued throughout the day. The future footballers and footballers were cheered on by all the people gathered in the stands. “One, two, three … LEGIA!” They chanted together.

Legia Children's Day Pitch

The countless sports, cultural and educational activities were available from the morning and at the entrance, the attendees could meet the club’s fans with the Legia Warsaw Supporters’ Association, the Good People – the Legia Children’s Association and the Disabled Supporters Association – Disabled Fanatics all having stands at the event.

A charitable lottery raffle organized by the Foundation, held under the slogan “I help with my heart” was waiting for the guests in a large white tent. There were plenty of club goodies to win, including pencil cases, calendars, backpacks, key rings and water bottles. In total, the lottery made PLN 24 thousand (approximately 5,630) with the full amount being used to fund the use of community day rooms and the foundation’s activities.

Legia Children's Day EcoZone

In the EcoZone, for the first time, new Legia Warsaw hybrid cars were presented, which in cooperation with Toyota, the club’s automotive partner were marked in a special way. The EcoZone also saw a visit from Anna Mucha, a superintendent in the Office of Municipal Waste Management, Dominik Kołodziejczyk from the Office of Air Protection and Climate Policy, a representative of the City of Warsaw and Dr. Andrzej Szalka , advisor to the Management Board of Toyota Motor Poland, who discussed what people can do to reduce their environmental impact.

Throughout the day there were various performances on the stage including a warm-up with a rabbit, a discussion about the year of Kazimierz Deyna and, artistic performances of youth bands – Hope4Street and Prink Girls, operating at the institutions with which the Foundation cooperates on a daily basis.

Popular, as always, was a speech by the coach of the first Legia team, which made a great impression not only on children but also on their parents.

On the upper promenade one could meet some of the other sports sections of Legia: Futsal, rugby, judo, tennis and volleyball, while in Skyboks, there was an educational zone prepared by the Legia Foundation and its partner, the Katalyst Education Foundation. There were educational puzzles waiting for the participants, based on the projects carried out by the Foundation (Lessons with Legia), shooting at the goal with a laser and robots that could be controlled on their own.
