Take part in ‘True Blue Hero Fun Run’ at Rangers stadium on April 8th
The American football player who plays as a midfielder Emerson Hyndman has urged fans to support the Rangers Charity Foundation by taking part in the True Blue Hero Fun Run which will take place at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday 8 April 2017.
Former Rangers star Michael Mols has already signed up and will be running around Ibrox Stadium alongside the fans, finishing with some laps around the pitch itself.
The event includes 5km and 10km distances for adults, as well as a 2.5km Junior Run and a 2.5km wheelchair event. It costs just £10 to register (£5 for juniors) and a certificate and medal will be awarded to everyone who takes part. There are also Rangers prizes up for grabs for the top fundraisers and family-friendly activities before and after the event, including Street Soccer and face painting. It was first held last year and around 200 participants raised over £32,000 for the work of the Foundation in the community and it’s charity partners, which this season include Unicef, Breast Cancer Care Scotland, the Beatson Cancer Charity and four services-related charities.
Emerson commented: “I heard the Fun Run was a great day last year, with a fantastic atmosphere, and hopefully loads of supporters will sign up again this season to support the good work the charity does. As fun runs go, it certainly has a very special backdrop!”
Connal Cochrane, Director of the Foundation added: “We’re delighted Michael Mols is supporting the Fun Run and I’m sure the runners will love to have a true fans favourite taking part alongside them on the day! The event was hugely successful last year and thanks to the money raised the Foundation was able to help many people in need. Thank you to all the supporters who have signed up so far this year to help us make a real difference in our community and beyond.”
Michael Mols added, “I’m really looking forward to taking part in the 10K – running round the trackside at Ibrox will certainly bring back many memories! I hope the fans will join me in supporting the wonderful work of the Rangers Charity Foundation and come along and take part. I will need all the support I can get but I’ll be giving it my all for the Foundation!”
Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship for the Foundation and everyone who raises more than £100 will become a True Blue Hero and will be invited to special reception to receive a True Blue Hero medal from a Rangers first team player.
