Foundation of Light offers a new Sensory Space to participants
Thanks to the support of North East Recruitment and training organisation Staff Power Group, Sunderland AFC’s official charity, Foundation of Light is able to offer a Sensory Space to participants.
The dedicated area in the Beacon of Light community centre venue is an intentionally created safe space that provides multi-sensory resources to help those who visit it to self-regulate and refocus. More people than ever with sensory needs are accessing Foundation programmes, which will allow attendees and their families to feel comfortable in their surroundings, knowing that the foundation has a facility to accommodate certain requirements.
With the Beacon being a constant hive of activity, attracting over 5,000 weekly visitors through its doors, the space will also be available to anyone who desires to use it, including foundation participants and the wider community. Staff Power Group have demonstrated unwavering support for the foundation’s disability provision, pledging a £10,000 donation, allowing the foundation to open a Sensory Space and extend its offering for people with sensory needs.
“As a company, we believe that we should support our own. Many young people throughout the North East face challenges every day, especially those with a disability. “Foundation of Light does great work with its participants, offering various programmes to ensure young people can fulfil their full potential. “Our donation will further support the Foundation to extend its disability provision, and we’re incredibly excited to see the Sensory Space make a difference to thousands of lives.”
