Foundation 92 supports the people of Ukraine

On March 10, EFDN launched an urgent appeal to football clubs, leagues and associations across Europe to support an emergency ‘Shelter Centre’ in Lviv Stadium in Lviv, Ukraine. Shakhtar alongside local authorities utilises the Lviv Stadium to open its doors to those in need.

The Shelter Centre will seek to support and accommodate many of these people as they try to escape the horrors sweeping their country. To succeed, Lviv Arena urgently needs Europe’s clubs and associations to supply essential items – particularly mattresses, travel cots, blankets, pillows and bed linen.

Great initiative of Foundation 92

Foundation 92, the charity foundation of Salford City Football Club did a great job in helping the people of Ukraine. They collected donated materials in the Greater Manchester area and then went on the ferry to the Netherlands. The Foundation 92 met the EFDN crew at the stadium of Feyenoord Rotterdam to hand over in person all the goods. EFDN would like to thank Foundation 92 for this wonderful contribution. It is good to see that help is given to the people who need it the most.

Head of Foundation 92, Tom Hutton, said “I think collaboration is absolutely imperative and really important to ensure that those most in need can receive the support they require and unfortunately, need at this time.

With Salford and Greater Manchester, we as Foundation 92, an EFDN member, have been able to raise awareness of how local members in the Greater Manchester community can donate towards a campaign that will allow us to support those most in need throughout Europe.

Through the collaboration with the EFDN, we have been able to link in with multiple partners across Europe. And drop donations off that will go directly to those most in need within the European community. And without the EFDN partnership that simply wouldn’t have been possible.”

Still, EFDN calls on all its member organisations and their partners to collect the items that are needed urgently at the Lviv Arena Shelter and/or to raise funds that support this cause. EFDN will take care of the further distribution to Legia Warsaw.

Organisations that want to participate can contact EFDN at helpukraine@efdn.org  to register their initiative and can then start immediately organising collections, or fundraising and purchasing priority items.

We hope that even more football organisations will answer this call for support and that we can help the people in need in Ukraine.

Thanks for your support!
