‘Football Memories’ starts again at NEC
From Wednesday 7 December 2022, the meetings of the NEC Social project “Football Memories” will start again. Every first Wednesday of the month, the elderly get the chance to reminisce about NEC together. Just like a football match, the encounter lasts twice for 45 minutes with a 15-minute break. The Old Board Room in the Goffert Stadium is the location where the elderly gather from 10:00 to 11:45 am.
Bart de Lange, project leader of Football Memories, is enthusiastic:
“Football Memories has been successfully fighting loneliness and (early) dementia in the United Kingdom for years. The meetings aim to stimulate the memory by reminiscing about NEC’s rich past.
“We notice that we are reaching the elderly in a positive way with shirts, photos and photo books, among other things. The participants, together with volunteers, reminisce by telling stories from the past. New stories are also created, because they take each other into their personal experiences.”

From next Wednesday, the project ‘De Oude Bestuurskamer’ will take place every first Wednesday of the month – with the exception of January 4, July 5 and August 2.
The meetings will take place on: Wednesday December 7, 2022, February 1, 2023, March 1, 2023, April 5, 2023, May 3, 2023, June 7, 2023, September 6, 2023, October 4, 2023, November 1, 2023 and December 6, 2023.
