Football for Unity Festival kicks off in Amsterdam
As part of UEFA Foundation for Children’s bigger European initiative, co-funded by European Union and in co-ordination and support of Streetfootballworld and EFDN, Football for Unity Awareness Raising Festival has kicked off in seven playing sites of EURO2020.
With the influx of refugees, immigrants and asylum seekers, the campaign looks to help facilitate the integration of such demographics – mindfully addressing the benefits of social impact because of the sport all over Europe. Inclusiveness, diversity and multiculturalism are main concepts being directed.
On July 3, the festival kicked off in Amsterdam, one of EURO2020’s primary playing locations. In a 6 vs 6 tournament, the Dutch Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers went head on with youngsters and participated in skill-based workshops. Cruyff Foundation, which is headquartered in Amsterdam, also pitched in with the help of their partners such as Los Barrenderos (street football framework) and Basic-Fit (organisation of an energetic warm-up process).
Football for Unity aims to utilise the mega-event’s platform to promote positive values, embrace diversity and social inclusion.
