Football festival organised by Shakhtar includes children
On Sunday, May 6, FC Shakhtar Donetsk held the first large-scale football festival for children at the OSC Metalist in Kharkiv, providing three hours of football happiness to over 100 children.
The festival was attended by 108 children aged 7 to 10 years old, including 21 girls and 87 boys. The children were then divided into 18 teams of six. Every team was offered fun coaching sessions in nine fascinating festival stations. Under the guidance of the coaches of the Kharkiv-based school Ball Master, the children learned about basic football skills such as dribbling, passing accuracy, shots on goal and so on. Teams who successfully performed tasks at each of the stations would earn points to reach the final.
The teams were also given the names of Shakhtar players. The Stepanenko and Srna teams reached the final and met in a football match, with the former beating the latter 4-2. All the winners were awarded orange balls at the awards ceremony.
The football festival by FC Shakhtar lasted three hours and attracted great interest with attendance from the children from Kharkiv and the Oblast area, the refugee kids from Donetsk, the children from Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Dobropillya, Kramatorsk and other places. Each participant received a sporting kit uniform and a club scarf as a gift as well.
