Feyenoord and Celtic FC Foundation join forces around Champions League match
While Feyenoord Rotterdam and Celtic FC met later that week on the pitch in Glasgow, the European social campaign started on Monday morning. A delegation from Feyenoord’s social department went to Glasgow earlier to get an insight into Celtic’s social activities.
”Over the past few days, we have supported the Celtic FC Foundation in various activities. It’s crazy that we got to experience for once what the Celtic FC Foundation does on a daily basis and what an impact the programme has on the community.”
Dion Pol, Education Coordinator at Feyenoord
On Monday, they gave a clinic to Celtic FC Foundation trainers on learning while moving. In the afternoon, they got to join a lunch for people with dementia and later they joined the ‘Joy of Moving’ project. This project is taught in primary schools and is about the importance of exercise and a healthy lifestyle. The day ended at the Recovery Café in the stadium, where former addicts share stories with each other in a safe place.
On Tuesday morning, they went pitchside during a football tournament against Celtic FC Foundation staff, project participants and former Celtic and Feyenoord players. Bobby Petta was also in attendance.
”It was great to be part of this activity. It is special to see what the Celtic FC Foundation can do for people in the neighbourhood.”
Bobby Petta
